Hoverfly is a Denver-based alternative-psych band combining soulful vocals, swaggering guitar and a driving rhythm section for an energetic sound that conjures the rock dynamism of Muse, Audioslave and the Killers. Formed during the pandemic of 2020 by cousins Chris Golias (guitar) and Tony Strayer (drums), Hoverfly found its out-of-this world sound when Carl Mease (bass) and Andy Rimer (vocals) joined for the ride. What resulted was a unique blend of raw emotion, trippy lyrical themes and high energy performance.

The local quartet’s latest single is “Sonder and Starlight,” which takes on the band’s optimistic perspective found in spite of the pandemic’s uncertainty, with grunge-rock driven guitar riffs that build until the crescendo collapses into entrancing rhythms that give way for Rimer’s vocals to take over.

This is their new single, called Hate. The song starts with a nice guitar riff and it's got relaxed vibes during the verse. The chorus (absolutely catchy) makes the song a little more energetic thanks to a distorted guitar. What I really like about "Hate" is the brilliant production and the individual performance of the band: I love the bass lines, the guitar solo and the vocals are very inspired too.

Oh yeah, when the chorus hit for the first time, it makes me remember back to memories of when I'd party with friends because it has this easy-going tone and that I should just do whatever reckless action I want to do at the moment.

I was so impressed with [Hate]! The chorus was so badass, the instruments in the background provided so much energy, I was never bored. The entire song I was engaged and loving every aspect of it. Hoverfly are a band to look out for.

I love the tight riff and the singer have a sweet rasp and attitude in his voice. Also dig the rhytm that adds groove and feeling to [Combustible]. Overall a great and well written tune.
